Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 3, 2026
This policy explains what smartoutdoorlightning.com collects when you visit, why, and what you can do about it. The short version: no accounts, no newsletter, no advertising cookies, and no personal data sold. We use one cookieless analytics tool for everyone and two optional ones that set cookies, which you can turn off.
1. What We Collect
We measure how the site is used with Umami, a privacy-focused analytics tool that we host ourselves. Umami sets no cookies, stores no personal identifiers and cannot follow you between websites. It records aggregate information only: pages viewed, the referring site, approximate country, and device and browser type. Because it identifies no one, it runs for every visitor without asking for consent.
With your consent (see section 2), we also use two tools that set cookies:
- Google Analytics 4, to understand which pages and reviews are useful. Google sets its own cookies (such as
_ga) and processes the data under Google’s privacy policy. We have not enabled advertising features or linked it to any ad account. - Klyqq, to see which search or referral visits lead to clicks on product links. It sets a first-party click attribution cookie on this domain that lasts up to 2 years.
We do not use advertising pixels or any other tracker beyond these.
2. Cookies and Your Choice
This site is written for readers in the United States, so how we ask depends on where you are.
- In the EU, EEA, UK or Switzerland, we ask first. Google Analytics and Klyqq load only after you click Accept, and nothing changes if you decline.
- Everywhere else, they are on by default and you can turn them off at any time. This default is not saved as a choice.
To tell the two apart we use two signals, and either one is enough to treat you as being in Europe: the country of your IP address, which our host Vercel provides with each request, and the time zone your device is set to (a European time zone, or one that cannot be read, counts as Europe). The country result is kept only in a cookie called visitor_region, which contains nothing but “eu” or “row” and expires after one day. Your IP address itself is not stored.
We honor Global Privacy Control. If your browser sends it and you have not made a choice on this site, we treat it as a decline and do not ask. A one-day cookie called visitor_gpc records whether the signal was present, since not every browser exposes it to the page. A choice you make here yourself takes priority over it.
You can change your mind whenever you like with the round cookie button in the bottom-left corner of every page, the “Cookie settings” link in the footer, or here: . Your choice is stored in your browser’s local storage so we do not ask again. If you decline, we also delete the cookies Google Analytics and Klyqq had set. Umami keeps running either way, since it sets no cookies and identifies no one.
3. Affiliate Links and Amazon
Smart Outdoor Lighting is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. When you follow a product link, you leave this site for Amazon.com, and the link carries a tracking identifier so Amazon can attribute a purchase to us. Amazon may then set its own cookies, which are governed by Amazon’s privacy notice, not this one. Earning a commission never changes the price you pay.
4. The Contact Form
If you write to us through the contact page, we receive the name, email address and message you enter, and use them only to reply. They are delivered by email through Backend Forms, our own self-hosted form service, are not added to any list, and are not passed to anyone else.
To keep that form free of spam, the contact page loads Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that a real person is submitting it. Turnstile runs on the contact page only, because the form cannot work without it, and it is used for that check and nothing else. Its handling of data is described in Cloudflare’s Turnstile privacy addendum.
5. Hosting
The site is hosted by Vercel, which processes standard server logs (such as IP address and request time) to deliver pages and protect against abuse, under its own privacy policy.
6. Your Rights
This site is aimed at readers in the United States, but we apply the same standard to everyone. If you are in the EU or UK, the GDPR gives you the right to access, correct or erase personal data about you. If you are a California resident, the CCPA and CPRA give you the right to know what is collected and to opt out of its sale or sharing — we do not sell it, and you can switch off Google Analytics and Klyqq at any time through “Cookie settings”. We cannot link analytics data to a name, so the personal data we can act on is a message you chose to send; to exercise any of these rights, ask us through the contact page.
7. Children
This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
8. Changes and Contact
smartoutdoorlightning.com is operated by Digipeak Media, Sweden, which is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.
If this policy changes, the date at the top will change with it. Questions go through the contact page; we reply within 30 days.
