Philips Hue Outdoor Lights: The US Range Compared

Updated

Philips Hue sells more than 40 outdoor products in the US, from garden spotlights to permanent roofline lights. This page lists the current range by job, with brightness, weather rating, power and price for each, so you can see which ones fit your yard before you start adding up the cost. We leave out the purely decorative Festavia mini-LED, curtain, icicle and net lights and a few variants (Impress wide, Dymera).

Every figure comes from the product's page on philips-hue.com or its Amazon listing, checked on October 3, 2026. Prices are Philips Hue's own US store prices. We have not installed or tested these lights ourselves. If you buy through our Amazon links, we earn a commission at no extra cost to you. How we research.

Four Things to Know First

  1. You need a Hue Bridge. Philips Hue states that all outdoor Hue products require one. The Bridge ($79.99) handles 50 lights and 12 accessories; the Bridge Pro ($149.99) handles 150+ lights and 50+ accessories and adds MotionAware, which turns lights into motion sensors.
  2. Matter comes through the Bridge. With a Bridge, Hue outdoor lights work with Apple Home, Alexa, Google Home and SmartThings.
  3. Every product has a 2-year warranty according to its Hue product page.
  4. Check the weather rating for where it goes. All the hardwired wall lights and the Discover floodlight are IP44 (splash-resistant), so they belong under an eave or porch roof. The low-volt spotlights and bollards are IP65 on Hue's site, but several Amazon listings say IP44 for the same products. We show both where they differ.

Which Hue Outdoor Light for Which Job

How the Low-Volt System Works

Hue's garden lights run on a low-voltage system: a weatherproof power supply plugs into an outdoor outlet, and the lights connect to it with Hue's own cables and T-connectors. Philips Hue gives these limits:

  • 40 W power supply ($74.99): up to 40 W of lights and up to 115 ft of cable. Hue says that is five Lily spotlights or three Lily XL.
  • 95 W power supply ($109.99): up to 95 W and up to 115 ft of cable.
  • Mixing is allowed. Any low-volt Hue light can share a power supply, as long as the wattages add up to no more than its rating: Lily, Calla and Econic pedestal 8 W each, Lily XL 15 W, Impress pedestal 16 W, Amarant 20 W.

Example: two Amarant lights on a fence (40 W) fill a 40 W supply on their own. Add two Lily XL for the trees (30 W) and you need the 95 W supply instead, with 25 W to spare for three more Lily spots.

Wiring diagram: an outdoor outlet (120 V) feeds a Hue 95 W power supply, whose cable (max 115 ft) connects through T-connectors to two Amarant lights at 20 W, two Lily XL at 15 W and three Lily at 8 W. 2 × 20 W + 2 × 15 W + 3 × 8 W = 94 W, which fits a 95 W supply with 1 W to spare.

Low-Volt Garden and Path Lights

These plug into a Hue outdoor power supply, which plugs into an ordinary outdoor outlet, so no electrician is needed. Extensions ship without a power supply; base kits include one.

Hardwired Wall Lights and Floodlights

These replace an existing fixture and are wired to a junction box. Every one of them is rated IP44 by Philips Hue, so they suit covered or semi-covered walls best.

No Longer Sold by Philips Hue US

These still turn up on Amazon and in older guides, but Philips Hue lists them as no longer available on its US store or does not list them at all:

  • Econic Up wall light (Econic Down and Square are still sold).
  • Inara filament wall lantern.
  • Outdoor lightstrip 80 in and 197 in, replaced by the Flux, Neon and OmniGlow strips.
  • Welcome floodlight, now only on Hue's UK site.

What We Could Not Verify

  • Weather ratings for the low-volt lights: Philips Hue says IP65, several Amazon listings say IP44. Hue gives no IP rating for the PAR38 bulbs; Amazon says UL Wet Location.
  • Lily XL on a 40 W supply: Hue's FAQ says a 40 W supply powers three Lily XL, but Hue lists the Lily XL at 15 W, and three of them add up to 45 W. Size by wattage to be safe.
  • Calla Large wattage: 16 W in Hue's description, 8 W in its spec table.
  • Econic Down light source: Hue describes an integrated LED, the Amazon title an E26 bulb.
  • Lumens for Flux and Neon are only given at 6500K, not at 4000K like the rest.
  • 95 W vs. 100 W power supply: Amazon's "100W" Hue supply may or may not be the same unit as Hue's 95 W supply.
  • Pricesare Philips Hue's own and change with sales; Amazon prices can differ.
  • Long-term durability: lifespans and ratings are Philips Hue's figures, not our measurements.
